The Leadership Development Profile (LDP)

Ascot Barclay Group Ltd and Harthill Consulting Limited have a strategic business relationship focused on assisting organisations and leaders across industry learn, transform and change.

The aim of the partnership is to help as many leaders as possible to better understand their internal action logic and to provide insight into how this information can be used to make more effective and efficient business decisions at all organisational levels.

At Ascot Barclay we offer the Harthill Leadership Development Profile as one component within our Action Business Change (ABC) Framework. We use this to help improve understanding around an organisations ability to lead, sponsor and implement both tactical and strategic change initiatives.

So what is the Leadership Development Profile (LDP) and why do we value its use so highly?

The profile is presented as a set of sentence stems that an individual is asked to complete. Harthill interpret the answers and produce a report which then forms part of the Ascot Barclay Active Business Change Framework.

Generally we find that directors and managers like the format of the LDP as it does not force answers to questions but instead allows for the free flow of thought. That is to say, you decide on the best answers, and the way you answer, yourself - you are asked to complete a number of simple sentences such as 'A good manager...'.

The profile is based on in depth research much of which has been carried out by Professor Bill Torbert and David Rooke, both of Harthill and is an adaptation of Loevinger's Washington University Sentence Completion Test (WUSCT). Ascot Barclay and Harthill work together on joint initiatives to provide a unique approach to business change and leadership development.

The LDP has been thoroughly tested and validated both academically and commercially over a long period of time and is perhaps one of the most insightful management development tools available in the market today.
